Shawn leads the firm’s corporate & commercial practice. He has experience in a wide range of corporate matters, including market entry and regulatory advice, handling cross-border mergers & acquisitions, corporate restructuring exercises, joint ventures and a wide array of commercial agreements. 

He has represented clients across various industries including manufacturing, oil & gas, mining, software and technology, mobility, retail and distribution. 

Shawn is also highly regarded in the venture capital and high growth company circles, regularly advising on private fundraising transactions involving preference shares, warrants, SAFE notes and convertible notes. His has a unique expertise in designing and structuring employee equity share incentive plans.

Shawn’s practice also extends to commercial real-estate, supporting corporate clients both local and foreign on real-estate ownership, land acquisitions, and the use of tax efficient investment structures for property investment.

  • Represented a Singapore based company to acquire a Kulai Johor factory valued at RM45 million, and equipment & fixtures valued at RM18 million.
  • Conduct due diligence & represented a Singapore company to acquire land with a factory, assets and equipment in Kulai, Johor total value of RM52 million.
  • Advised a Russian-owned mining company on the restrictions on foreign property ownership, conducted due diligence in its Tenancy with an Option to Purchase a Smelting Factory, together with equipment in Kulim, Kedah.
