Zi-Han is an experienced litigator. He focuses his practice on employment matters (contentious and non-contentious), commercial disputes, and tax litigation.
He has advised and successfully represented both employers and employees at various levels of court, including judicial reviews and appeals. His portfolio also includes commercial disputes involving construction, winding-up, fraud, arbitration, and strata management disputes.
He has also acted for clients in challenges against decisions by tax and customs authorities. During his time in the firm, he was part of the team that represented a taxpayer in the first reported High Court decision addressing the powers of the Director General of Customs and Excise to apportion input tax claim following the abolishment of the GST system.

NOTABLE TRANSACTIONS
- Represented a tax payer in a landmark appeal against the custom authority’s decision on apportionment of input tax after the abolishment of the GST system in Malaysia. It was the first reported High Court decision on this issue.
- Represented a tax payer in an appeal against the tax authority’s assessment of various deductible expenditures in the millions of ringgit and successfully overturning the tax authority’s assessment
- Represented a senior management employee in an unfair dismissal claim, where the Industrial Court awarded more than RM2 million in compensation and back wages.
- Represented a leading manufacturer in a constructive dismissal action brought by its former acting plant manager and successfully dismissed the claim.
- Represented a former manager in an education institute in a pregnancy discrimination constructive dismissal claim, and successfully securing a favourable award from the Industrial Court.
- Represented the main contractor in an arbitration at the Asian International Arbitration Centre involving a multi-storey shopping complex and infrastructure project and successfully securing a favourable award. Also represented the main contractor in related applications before the High Court.
- Advised local and international companies on employment related issues including fraud related misconduct, economic measures taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, and general day-to-day human resource matters.
