About the Role – Employment Associate

We are looking for a dedicated lawyer to join our highly regarded employment practice group, reporting directly to Donovan Cheah. In this role, you will work closely with our clients, providing strategic and practical advice on a wide range of employment law matters

Key Responsibilities:

  • Representing employers in unfair dismissal claims at the Industrial Court, as well as handling related appeals and judicial reviews.
  • Representing employers in other types of employment disputes, including civil claims.
  • Providing pre-dispute advisory, including:
    • Workforce downsizing, restructuring, and reorganization exercises.
    • Dismissal management for misconduct or poor performance, including advising on domestic inquiries and performance improvement plans.
    • Advising on allegations of constructive dismissal.
  • Reviewing and drafting employment-related documents, such as employment agreements, handbooks, policies, procedures, and correspondence.
  • Advising on day-to-day HR and employment law issues, ensuring compliance and best practices.

Key Requirements

  • Advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya
  • 1-2 years of uninterrupted legal practice in employment law.
  • Must have experience in employment litigation, ie: representing employers at Industrial Court and/or the Labour Court, or appearing before the civil courts for employment related civil claims, appeals and/or judicial review. If shortlisted, you are expected to demonstrate this experience and showcase your technical knowledge of employment law during the interview.
  • Must have experience in dealing with clients from diverse backgrounds including start-ups, small-medium enterprises and multinational corporations.
  • Strong command of English, with the ability to write concisely and with clarity. You may be asked to show a sample of your work product.

  • Up to RM6,500 basic salary depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications
